TN Deer Harvest Numbers Down Slightly in 2014

 CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) - Tennessee deer hunters had another great year of hunting, harvesting a state total of 162,792 deer which included 84,665 bucks, 68,008 does, and 10,119 button bucks or smaller.

These numbers are slightly down from the 2013-2014 season in which the total harvest of deer for that year was 164,148.

Giles County was again number 1 in the state with a total harvest of 5,168 deer.  These numbers are slightly down from the 2013-2014 harvest of 5,258 deer.

Hamilton County harvest numbers for the 2014-2015 season were 1,953 compared to the 2013-2014 harvest of 2,013 deer indicating a slight drop also.

The top 10 counties for deer harvest in the 2014-2015 season are as follows:
1.  Giles – 5,168
2.  Henry – 4,409
3.  Lincoln – 4,216
4.  Hardeman – 4,131
5.  Maury – 3,926
6.  Montgomery – 3,504
7.  Franklin – 3,262
8.  Madison – 3,089
9.  Hardin – 3,076
10. Hickman = 3,045
