CLINTON, TN (News Sentinel) - A Knoxville man convicted last summer of breaking more than 30 bones in his 10-week-old son's body has received three concurrent 25-year prison sentences.

David William Lowery, 48, was sentenced by Anderson County Circuit Court Judge Don Elledge in connection with injuries first discovered in January 2008.

A doctor noticed a handprint-shaped bruise on the infant's back during a routine wellness check that month, authorities said.

Subsequent checkups revealed a long list of broken bones: 14 fractured ribs, upper left leg broken, right shinbone fractured, upper and lower left arm fractured.
