Baby rhino takes first steps

Posted: Updated:

Some rare video now from the Copenhagen Zoo.

A mother rhino, weighing about seven-thousand pounds, turning around to check on her newborn calf.

The birth went well and both the mother and calf are doing well.

You then see the mother gently touching almost nuzzling her 110-pound baby.

Shortly after being born, the little one was able to stand and walk on its own, but not without her "encouragement."

Rhinos are among the world's most critically endangered species.

According to the San Diego Zoo, a rhino is killed by poachers in the wild every eight hours.
