Twins 3B Plouffe enters season with Sano waiting for chance

Posted: Updated:
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - When Trevor Plouffe signed a $4.8 million, one-year deal, he became the highest-paid third baseman in Minnesota Twins history.

The question is, how long will he hold that position?

Plouffe is coming off of a solid season in which he hit 14 home runs and led the team with 80 RBIs. But star prospect Miguel Sano is healthy and itching for a crack at the big leagues.

Plouffe says he's not worried at all about the young power hitter on his heels. He has worked hard to improve his defense over the last two years and welcomes the change to manager Paul Molitor.

Plouffe says his main focus is on winning after four straight seasons of at least 90 losses.
