A new study suggests familiar voices can help improve awareness and the recovery of coma patients.
Researchers monitored 15 patients who were exposed to daily recordings of family members telling familiar stories.
Areas of the brain linked to understanding language and long-term memory were more active when the recordings played.
More importantly, these patients recovered consciousness faster and had an easier recovery.
