Unintentional tribute to dogs helps raise thousands for local animal rescue

Posted: Updated:

An unintentional tribute to dogs helped one sheriff's department deliver a very intentional tribute to canines.

The rug in the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office had a misprint. The words in the crest that should read 'in God we trust' read 'in dog we trust' instead.

The rug sat in the lobby for months before an officer noticed the misprint.

There was so much interest in the misprinted rug, the sheriff's department placed it up for auction.

The rug sold for just under 10,000 dollars - all of the proceeds are going to a local animal rescue.
