Dekalb County man behind bars for shooting at an officer.

DEKALB COUNTY, AL (WRCB) -

A Dekalb County man is behind bars for shooting at an officer.

52-year-old Carl Jones III is charged with attempted murder.

Police responded to a disturbance call of a man, later identified as Jones, shooting a gun near a residence.

When the officer got out of his car, jones began firing at him.

The officer's patrol car was hit, but he was able to escape unharmed.

After a short standoff with police, jones was taken into custody.

Police say he had a large tactical knife in one hand and a revolver in the other when he was arrested.

While searching jones' residence, officers found 13 firearms and illegal drugs in the home.

    Chief David Roddy took about two dozen people on a tour of the department's Real Time Intelligence Center (RTIC).  RTIC was unveiled back in March. It's a place where investigators can monitor real time cameras, review video footage and store digital data.
