This week's Crime Stoppers suspect is looking at an aggravated robbery charge, at the very least. Why? "You don't have to say anything. If you show, if you brandish that weapon, it's going to automatically bump that charge up," explained Chattanooga Police Officer Tim McFarland.
Our picture shows the bad guy mid-heist, late the night of January 19th. He hit Highway 58 Subway restaurant around 10:20. McFarland picks up the narrative. "Black male enters," he said, "approaches the counter, asks the employee whether he or she was alone. Once he determined they were alone, he brandished a firearm and demanded the cash out of the register."
The clerk wisely complied and this guy ran away with the money. The picture comes from a store surveillance camera. "It's not the best quality picture," admitted Off. McFarland, "but should be good enough for identification, if somebody knows him."
He is said to be in his 20's, about 5'8" with a medium build. There is up to $1,000 waiting, no questions asked. Our hope, as always, is to dispense some justice, continue the cleanup of Highway 58, and put some cash in your pocket. "Somebody will see him and say, 'Ah, I know him!'," McFarland added. "It's just a matter of whether they want that reward bad enough to turn them in."
If you know the person or who he is, remember: no one will ever know you helped the investigation, not police and certainly not him.
