Dalton prostitution bust nets 53 & 69 year old suspects
DALTON, GA (WRCB) -
A Dalton business is closed after an undercover vice investigation nets 2 arrests on charges of soliciting prostitution.
Dalton Police Department spokesman Bruce Frazier confirms the Thursday arrests of 53-year-old Sang Soon Almer and 69-year-old Yung C. Binn at the GQ Spa on Chattanooga Rd.
"I was really surprised that this awful thing has been happening right across the street from our business," says Hope Stephenson.
"I was pretty surprised I had never really noticed the spa before, and I think its pretty gross," adds Ashton Wong.
Both Wong and Stephenson work at the Southern Belles Resale Shop, just across the parking lot from the GQ Spa, where Almer and Bibb were arrested last week for soliciting prostitution.
"Our investigators began an undercover investigation, sent in an agent to confirm that these services were being offered for money and once that took place we arrested both individuals that were working at the spa," says Dalton P.D. spokesman Bruce Frazier.
Business here at the GQ Spa has apparently taken a hit since last Thursday's arrests, we came to the front door Wednesday to get more information and we were greeted by a sign saying it was closed due to personal reasons.
"Whenever these businesses are operating in our town it doesn't take very long for us to start getting complaints or information about the fact that these things are happening," says Frazier. "Either from somebody who goes in and is surprised to get an offer for you know, or some other way we receive a complaint."
"It's just crazy that they're so at that age and still trying to do stuff like that it's just hard to imagine how," says Stephenson.
"It's also pretty immature that women of that age would be doing stuff like this," quips Wong.
Dalton Police say they've made previous arrests at the GQ Spa and other prostitution arrests at the same location under different names and ownership.
