CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -

A forum addressing how to improve Tennessee's low health rating will be held Thursday at UTC.

A study that examined health conditions in all 50 states, ranked Tennessee at 45th

The cost of treating preventable chronic illness in the state has a 6 billion dollar price tag each year.

If the problems,  including physical activity, diabetes, obesity and smoking continues to go un-addressed, the state's quality of life and economic potential could be impacted.

The forum will provide a statistical snap shot of health in area counties. Brainstorming local solutions involving health, business, political and civic leaders will also be a part of the forum.

The forum is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the University Center Auditorium on the UTC campus.  The public is invited.
