CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -

The Chattanooga Firefighters Association, Local 820, presented a check today to the three Lockhart children, who escaped a house fire the day before Thanksgiving.

The children's parents, Randall and Candy Lockhart, did not survive.

Local 820 says thanks to the community, $41,900 was raised to help the three children and their grandparents, Gary and Susan Patterson, parents of Candy Lockhart, who are now raising them.

Firefighters presented a check for $5,900 to aid the family with any immediate needs. The remaining $36,000 will be placed in separate education funds for 8-year-old Mark, 9-year-old Haley, and 10-year-old Rebecca.

Coming up on Channel 3 Eyewitness News Live at 5:00, we'll have more on the emotional thank you from the family.
