CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -

A vacant house fire Tuesday morning required Chattanooga firefighters to use several strategies to battle the blaze.

The initial alarm went out at 12:41am, and four fire companies responded to the fire at 2800 E. 18th Street Place.

When firefighters arrived, the house was nearly 50% involved, with smoke and flames coming from the windows according to a news release.

After working inside the home to control the fire, firefighters were pulled out to attack the fire from the exterior and an additional fire company was called because of the fire's size.

It took nearly an hour to get the fire under control. The house is considered to be a total loss.

The house was vacant and there were indications that it might be in the process of being renovated. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
