Air Force veteran gets rude note for parking spot

Posted: Updated:

A North Carolina veteran returned to her car after grocery shopping at an area store to find a nasty note on it about where she'd parked.

Mary Claire Caine parked in a "reserved veteran" parking spot in Wilmington, N.C. She's also a U.S. Air Force veteran.

The Century 21 broker/realtor noticed a note taped to the passenger window, written with a Sharpie, according to WECT-TV in Wilmington.

It read: "Maybe you can't read the sign you parked in front of. This space is reserved for those who fought for America....not you."

Caine served in Kuwait and on the flight line of the F-117 Nighthawk.

She said she thinks that because she is a woman, the note's author drew a false conclusion about her.

"I want them to know they owe me and every other female service member who's fighting now and who's fought in the past, an apology for jumping to conclusions,

Caine thinks the likelihood of ever finding out who left the note is slim. But she hopes her experience will teach a lesson to others who may have wondered the same thing about a female veteran.
