UNDATED (GoMocs.com)--The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men's athletic program is listed with the big boys in the fall standings of the Capital One Cup. UTC is tied for 26th in the nation on the men's side, thanks to the football team's quarterfinal showing in the Football Championship Subdivision Playoffs (FCS) in December.
The Capital One Cup is awarded each year to the nation's best men's and women's NCAA Division I athletics programs. Schools earn points based on their teams' top 10 finishes in NCAA Division I championships and in final official coaches' polls. Men's points in the fall were based on cross country, water polo, soccer, FCS football and FBS football.
Chattanooga scored nine points in FCS football and is tied with Baylor and Syracuse at No. 26. Ohio State, North Dakota State and Virginia are tied for the lead with 60 points.
The Capital One Cup winners will be determined at the end of the spring season and honored at the ESPYS in July. Last year, the University of Notre Dame's men's athletic program and the University of Florida's women's athletic program took home the winning trophies. This is the fifth year of the Capital One Cup.
