EVENSVILLE, TN (WRCB) -

A Rhea County High School student was apprehended by Sheriff's deputies Thursday, after it was discovered he had a pistol on campus.  Superintendent Jerry Levengood said principal Jesse Messimer received information about the pistol.

Levengood said the pistol was unloaded, and the students had no bullets in his possession.  He added that the student, who is under 18, had not made any threats toward anyone.

The student is suspended from school, being held at the Rhea County Juvenile Detention Center charged with possession of a handgun and unruly behavior.
