Knoxville police spend nearly $3,700 on presidential visit

KNOXVILLE, TN (WBIR) -

(WBIR) - A lot of planning goes into presidential visits, especially for law enforcement. And time means money.

President Barack Obama traveled to East Tennessee, along with Vice President Joe Biden and Dr. Jill Biden, last Friday to pitch a two-fold agenda: free community college for two years and a new manufacturing institute in the region.

The Knoxville Police Department was one of several law enforcement agencies involved in the security measures for the visit. WBIR has reached out the departments, but only Knoxville police have responded.
