State lawmakers are back in Nashville Tuesday to kick off the 109th General Assembly.
Legislators plan to spend the week getting committee assignments, and electing constitutional officers.
They also plan to celebrate Governor Bill Haslam's inauguration to a second term.
Major issues expected to be taken up this year include new abortion regulations, common core standards, and tweaking Tennessee's new law on supermarket wine sales.
Haslam will deliver his annual State of the State address in February.
