David Jenkins has a warm place to sleep Thursday night.

It's much better than the tent he now calls home.

Chattanooga Community Kitchen keeps Jenkins from sleeping outside.  Of course, Jenkins is not the only one in need.

Volunteers convert the day center into an extra weather shelter on these cold nights.  150 mats on the floor may feel like luxury compared to the alternative.

They'll eat a warm meal and get free clothes if they need them.  This community has a big heart but as soon as donations go out as fast as they can come in.

They hope more people take a second look in their closets and pass on what they don't need.  The organization could use men's underwear, socks, hand warmers and men and women's coats as well as old blankets, socks, hot hands whatever. Drop it off at the shelter tonight.
