KNOXVILLE (News Sentinel) - It has been nearly 15 years since McGhee Tyson Air National Guard Base hosted an air show, so officials expect the crowds to be good and ready when the Smoky Mountain Air Show is held in 2016.

And just like the show that was held in April 2000, the featured performer this time will be the Navy's Blue Angels flight demonstration team.

Officials with the McGhee Tyson-based 134th Air Refueling Wing, the Metropolitan Knoxville Airport Authority, the city of Knoxville, Knox County and Blount County gathered under the nose of a KC-135 Stratotanker Monday to announce an air show that is set for April 16-17, 2016.
