KNOXVILLE, TN (WRCB)-- The Tennessee Vols open their 2015 SEC basketball schedule Wednesday night on the road in Starkville against Mississippi State, but without the same complement of players when the season tipped off.
Former University of Memphis transfer Dominic Woodson has already exited the team, transferring elsewhere. Vols' forward Jabari McGhee is likely lost for the season after suffering a broken foot and point guard Ian Chiles has re-aggravated a previously injured right shoulder.
Nevertheless, Vols' first year Head Coach Donnie Tyndall is excited to begin the SEC schedule, in a conference he believes has vastly improved over last year.
" Top to bottom, you look at the teams around the league that have maybe been in the bottom tier of the league having great seasons. South Carolina is having a great year, Mississippi State just beat a really good Florida State team. So I think, with the exception of Kentucky, you probably have 17 other games that you could lose all 17 or you could win all 17. It is going to be that balanced and that small of a margin," said Tyndall.
