New Congress Kicks Off

(NBC News) President Obama will veto legislation authorizing construction of Keystone oil pipeline if Congress passes it.

Republicans, who now run the Senate agenda for the first time since 2007, planned a vote mandating the pipeline's construction as their first move this week and there were early indications that the president would go along with the plan.

That's no longer the case.

White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest confirmed Tuesday that President Obama will veto any such measure.
