Two people arrested after marijuana grow found in their home
Two people face various charges after deputies discovered a marijuana grow in their home.
It all started when Jackson County Sheriff's deputies responded to a domestic violence incident on County Road 18 in Dutton, AL.
The victim told deputies her husband had assaulted her numerous times over the past two weeks and had refused to allow her to leave the house or call for help. The victim claimed that she called for help, from a neighbor's house, only after her husband went back to work late last night.
At the victim's home deputies found items used to grow marijuana. During the search deputies located an indoor marijuana grow consisting of approximately 68 marijuana plants, fertilizer, grow lights, planting soil and other items used to grow marijuana, drug paraphernalia, approx 1 lb of marijuana, weapons and mushrooms.
The woman and her husband were arrested and charged with the following:
Leonard Stephen Character, Jr. age 35 of Dutton, AL. was charged with Trafficking in Marijuana, Possession of Controlled Substances (Psilocybin Mushrooms), Felony Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Domestic Violence Strangulation, Domestic Violence 3rd Degree Harassment, Unlawful Imprisonment, and Interference with a Domestic Violence Emergency Call. Bond has not yet been set.
Candy Gail Character, age 43 of Dutton, AL. was charged with Trafficking in Marijuana, Possession of Controlled Substances (Psilocybin Mushrooms), Felony Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Candy Character was released on $2,500 bond.
