Posted: Updated:
CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -

The Salvation Army is placing a call for help to the community to donate new space heaters for low-income households and gloves, hats and hand warmers for the homeless.

The Salvation Army has had hundreds of phone calls from neighbors needing assistance with utility bills and supplemental heat to battle the cold.

Monetary donations are needed to assist with high utility bills. The Salavation Army is not in need of blankets at this time.

“Our goal is to keep our neighbors safe and warm in their homes.  “Everyone who shares the warmth through their gifts is showing their deep concern for those in danger of the frigid, life-threatening weather," said Major Algerome Newsome.

Donations of heaters, gloves, hats, and hand warmers are being accepted at The Salvation Army located at 822 McCallie Avenue.  Monetary donations can also be made on-line by visiting Chattanooga Salvation Army or by calling 1-800-Sal-Army.
