Good Monday. Temperatures this morning are 20-25 degrees colder than yesterday morning. We will stay chilly all day with sunshine this afternoon and highs only reaching the upper 30s and low 40s. The average high is 50. We will rapidly cool this evening, dropping below freezing by 9pm. We will continue to see temperatures fall, into the mid to upper 20s by Tuesday morning. Tuesday afternoon we will be a bit warmer. Look for a high of 49 with sunny skies.
Another front will move through late Tuesday. It will not bring us any precipitation, but another shot of cold air will move through on Wednesday and Thursday. We will start with a low in Chattanooga of 27 Wednesday morning. The high Wednesday will only reach 34! Even colder air will settle in Thursday morning. That will be the coldest time period with the low Thursday morning plummeting to about 13. We will still be shy of a record. The record low for Thursday's date is 6 degrees. The high Thursday will be a meager 35 degrees.
One issue will be prolonged periods of freezing. We could see some areas outside of town maintain temperatures below freezing Tuesday night through Friday morning.
We will warm a bit Friday afternoon with highs in the mid 40s. For the weekend, highs will be in the mid to upper 40s with lows in the mid to upper 20s. There is a chance we may see some light rain showers by Sunday night.
