UPDATE: Officer injured in accident near Fourth Avenue

CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -

UPDATE: Tennessee Highway Patrol Sgt. Bill Miller tells Channel 3 troopers responded to the scene of a crash with injuries involving a McMinn County deputy on I-24 Eastbound at mile marker 181. 

THP says the officer was transporting a patient to Moccasin Bend, but the patient was not in the vehicle when the crash happened.

The McMinn County deputy sustained several injuries in the crash and all injuries are non-life threatening. 


PREVIOUS STORY: An officer was injured in accident on Saturday and weather may have been a factor in the accident.

The accident happened on Interstate 24 involving a McMinn County Sheriff's deputy in his patrol car. 

Sheriff Joe Guy says the deputy was on his way back from transporting someone to Moccasin Bend, when his car hydroplaned off the road.

It happened near the Fourth Avenue exit on I-24 Eastbound around 4:45 p.m. 

Emergency responders were on the scene and we're told the deputy received minor injuries, but is expected to be okay.
