CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -

Chattanooga police are investigating a fourth shooting on New Year's Day.

The victim told police he was walking near 4000 Grand Avenue when he was shot by an unknown suspect driving a four door sedan.

The victim was taken to a local hospital where police later responded.

The victim is believed to have a non-life threatening injury.

It's unclear if this latest shooting is connected to the other shootings from hours earlier that resulted in the death of two people.
Police have investigated three other shootings in less than 24 hours.

  • At 12:29 a.m., police responded to 4115 Dorris Street where they found 24-year-old Deoaunte Dean shot to death.
  • At 2:44 a.m., police were called to 3100 Brainerd Road where they found 31-year-old Reginald Lewis suffering from a gunshot wound.
  • At 3 a.m., investigators were called to 4903 Brainerd Road after 18-year-old Juan Boyd was shot and killed
In 2014, Chattanooga had a total of 27 homicides. It was a 42 percent increase from the previous year and the highest number of homicides the city has had in more than a decade. A day into 2015, investigators now have two new cases.
