Happy New Year, and good Thursday!

After fair skies early today cloud cover increases through the first day of 2015, becoming overcast by late afternoon. Highs reach the seasonable upper 40s to 50° in the city (normal is 50°). Under cloudy skies some light rain develops this evening, lasting into the overnight, with lows in the upper 30s.

Some light rain returns Friday afternoon and evening with cloudy skies and highs in the upper 40s. Look for occasional rain Friday night with nearly steady temperatures in the middle 40s.

Saturday features occasional showers with southerly winds and warmer highs in the upper 50s. Rain becomes widespread and heavier Saturday night and a thunderstorm can't be ruled out, with mild lows in the middle 50s. At this time severe storms aren't expected. Showers continue Sunday morning with some afternoon clearing and temperatures possibly cool into the 40s.

Monday through Wednesday bring fair to partly cloudy skies and colder weather with highs in the middle to upper 40s Monday and Tuesday, lower 40s Wednesday. Lows falling back into the 20s.
