Flu cases continue to spike in East TN

KNOXVILLE, TN (WBIR) - Flu cases continue to spike in East Tennessee.

The Knox County Health Department reports flu activity is currently higher in East Tennessee than in other parts of the state.

This weekend, flu-like symptoms caused the Holston Health and Rehab Center in East Knoxville to temporarily go on lockdown. It has also forced two school systems, Alcoa City Schools and Athens City Schools, to both close for a day earlier this month.

At the Kroger in Farragut, Pharmacist Denise Barker said there has been a spike in flu cases within the past 10 days.
