Local foster families celebrate holidays at Chattanooga Public Library

CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) - Local foster families gathered Saturday at the Chattanooga Public Library to celebrate the holidays.

"This is all for the kids, sorry. It makes me cry.  Yeah Santa gets emotional talking about these precious kids," said Santa.

Santa met 70 foster children living in the Tennessee Valley and said each one melted his heart.

He read stories, passed out goody bags and answered a lot of  questions

"Most of them want to know where my reindeer are and where my sled is," said Santa.

He also told the children to make a list and check it twice.

"Brand new cars, little games and some want animals, but I say no unless their mom and dad say yes," said Santa.

The event held at the Chattanooga Public Library was organized to bring foster families from Hamilton, Bradley, Polk and McMinn counties together.

"I've adopted three children from foster care and a little girl privately in the last 3 years," said Katherine Burnett, Volunteer.

Katherine Burnett says her family is what she is thankful for this holiday season. A feeling she says is indescribable knowing she gave 4 children a "Forever Family".

"It brings joy to our hearts," said Burnett.

Some of the children at the event are  still in need of a loving family, a few told Santa that is what they are hoping for this year.

"If you have room in your heart and in your home become a foster parent," said Burnett.

The event was put on by the Bradley Square 12 Carmike Cinema.
