CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -

Just last year, Hamilton County Schools Superintendent Rick Smith got a new contract, and a substantial raise. Already, school board members are talking about extending that contract.

At Thursday's Board meeting, Smith's contract will be discussed.

As it stands now, Smith's contract ends on June 30, 2017, but Board Chairman George Ricks says there's talk of extending it two additional years, through June of 2019. However, this time, there is no talk of another raise.

Last year, Smith got a $25,000 dollar raise, boosting his salary to $190,000 a year, a move that was criticized by several teachers.
