JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (AP) - A domestic violence charge against a Tennessee Highway Patrol trooper who resigned in lieu of termination has been dismissed.
The Johnson City Press (http://bit.ly/1wVRwgy) reports the prosecutor and the defense attorney for former THP Trooper Russel Holtsclaw told Judge Don Arnold on Monday that they had "resolved" the case and it would be dismissed. Prosecutor Brownlow Marsh told the judge that Holtsclaw's wife asked that the charges be dismissed.
Holtsclaw submitted his resignation after being charged by Johnson City Police on Aug. 10 with aggravated domestic assault.
At the time of the resignation, Tennessee Highway Patrol Col. Tracy Trott said that "allegations of domestic violence are absolutely not tolerated in the Tennessee Highway Patrol" regardless of the outcome of the criminal case.
