Child abuse doesn't end during the holidays

CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) - The excitement of the holiday season makes many people smile more, other give money, gifts or their time to people in need.

But experts at Children's Hospital at Erlanger are wanting us all to also remember abused children during this time of year.

Medical specialists say each week doctors are treating about 2 children who have been hurt from violence at home.   

To date, 300 suspected child abuse cases have gone through the Children's Hospital this year.  

The experts say this time of year it's easy to get lost in the hustle and bustle of the holiday season -- but if you see signs of child abuse or neglect - you need to act.  

They say it's also important for parents or guardians to also know there is help if they feel overwhelmed.
