(KRBC)  The newest member to Texas' Taylor County Sheriff's Department may not look like your average deputy. That's because he's an elf.

"He arrived here just last week, from the North Pole," says Deputy Cliff Griffin, the man in charge of this year's Elf on the Shelf. "We picked him up from the airport, then he went and saw Sheriff Bishop and he got sworn in as a special deputy with the sheriff's office."

In the short amount of time he's been here, Deputy Taylor, the elf, has been busy.  He's made his rounds with other fellow deputies at places like the Taylor County Jail, Criminal Investigations, 911 dispatch, the court house security and he's even been out watching officers perform in their weekly training.
