NFL announces new personal conduct policy

Posted: Updated:

Wednesday the NFL announced a new personal conduct policy during an owners meetings in Irving, Texas, after a string of domestic violence cases this season many involving star players.

Until now the league did not have a defined policy to deal with domestic abuse.  In fact before this year the harshest punishment a player ever received was a one game suspension.

Roger Goodell, NFL Commissioner, "The policy is comprehensive, it is strong, it is tough, and it is better for everyone associated with the NFL."

The new rules go into affect immediately and again the policy covers all league and team personnel not just the players..
