Murphy woman arrested for possessing and bring drugs into jail

MURPHY, NC (WRCB) -
On December 4, Cherokee County Sheriff Office's arrested 37-year-old Krystal Dawn Lance of Murphy for Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of Controlled Substance In Jail/Confinement Facility.
Deputies with the Cherokee County Sheriff's Uniformed Services Division stopped at a local business in the Hanging Dog Community to investigate a suspicious vehicle.
During that investigation Lance was found to be an occupant of a vehicle at the closed business.
Investigators tell Channel 3, Lance appeared to be intoxicated on some impairing substance and was found to be in possession of a quantity of Methamphetamine along with paraphernalia used to ingest Methamphetamine.
Lance was arrested and transported to the Cherokee County Detention Center for further processing.
Once at the Cherokee County Detention Center Lance was given the opportunity to surrender any illegally possessed controlled substances which she refused to do so. While searching Lance during the booking process an amount of Morphine was seized from Lance's purse.
Lance was taken before the Cherokee County Magistrate who set a $5,000.00 secure bond. Lance was released after posting the secure bond and has a December 16 Cherokee County District Court date.
