Hub Iwi launched in preparation for Ironman Chattanooga

Posted: Updated:
CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) - On Monday, HUB Endurance and a Chattanooga-based professional triathlete Anna Cleaver announced the launch of HUB Iwi,  a revolutionary new triathlon team concept that provides all the tools necessary to compete in Ironman Chattanooga and Ironman 70.3.

Cleaver and HUB Endurance owner and renowned triathlon coach Andy Sweet hope HUB Iwi provides the triathlon community with resources that will help a select group of athletes successfully compete in these and other events.

“After Ironman Chattanooga, Anna and I decided to combine our knowledge and experience to develop something unique that will benefit the triathlon community. “Hub Iwi is about more than just training, it is about providing athletes with the coaching, guidance, education and equipment necessary to succeed,” said Sweet.

Cleaver is also looking for a way to give back to the Chattanooga community that she now calls home.

“I was blown away by the encouragement and support I received from Chattanooga during my Ironman Chattanooga 2014 campaign. I wanted to develop a way to share my knowledge, to thank the people and companies who supported me, and to answer the many questions I received about racing in Chattanooga. I also told Andy I would love to bring others along with me in my Ironman Chattanooga 2015 journey, to do it as a team,” said Cleaver.

The New Zealand term ‘Iwi' (pronounced e-we), reflects Cleaver's heritage, but also captures Sweet and Cleaver's intentions of creating something much more than a team. By definition:

Iwi: 1. (noun) extended kinship, group, tribe nation, people, often refers to a large group of people descended from a common ancestor. 2. (noun) strength, bone

HUB Iwi athletes will be selected via an application process and the chosen individuals will range from complete novices to seasoned triathletes.

Each member of the HUB Iwi team will receive coaching and mentoring from both Cleaver and Sweet, custom HUB Iwi race apparel and unlimited access to HUB Endurance seminars, webinars, and clinics.

Most important, the chosen athletes will be a part of “the Iwi” or tribe. Although HUB Iwi was launched in Chattanooga, its family will come from and compete across the US and abroad.
