CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - It's one of the most prestigious international honors that has not been bestowed on a native Clarksville student since 1995.

Robert A. Fisher, a 21-year-old senior at University of Tennessee-Chattanooga, was one of 32 outstanding students from across the U.S chosen as an elite Rhodes Scholars.

On Nov. 22, the American Rhodes Scholar Class of 2015 was elected, and the students will commence their studies in October at the University of Oxford in Oxford, England.

The students were selected from a pool of 877 candidates through an extensive application and interview process.

Fisher, a 2011 Rossview High distinguished honors graduate, attributes his educational success to the love and support of his parents, Rossview educators and UT-Chattanooga community.

He is UT-Chattanooga's third Rhodes Scholar in 128 years.
