Nine Families Forced From Homes After Apartment Fire

Posted: Updated:
BRADLEY COUNTY, TN (WRCB) - A fire ripped through a Bradley County apartment complex Thursday afternoon, leaving nine families without their home this Thanksgiving.

Officials in Bradley County tell us the fire started in an apartment where a mother stays with her 5-year-old son. The boy first noticed the flames, and alerted his mother. She was able to get out with her son and warn other tenants in the Ocoee Village apartment complex, all the neighbors were able to make it out safely.

The building sustained enough damage to force those nine families out, the Red Cross is assisting families who don't have a place to stay.

The cause of this fire is under investigation.
