CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -
Someone with a big heart dropped 36 100-dollar bills Saturday into the Salvation Army kettle at the Big Lots on Highway 27 in Fort Oglethorpe.
The generous donation couldn't have come at a better time. "We have been busy with cold weather shelter, Angel Tree, Red Kettles, and preparing for Thanksgiving," said Major Al Newsome, Area Commander for The Salvation Army of Greater Chattanooga in a news release. "We are so grateful for this large donation! It couldn't come at a better time!"
The Salvation Army's resources have been stretched thin with the early cold weather and the resulting need to open warming shelters earlier than normal.
They are still in need of volunteers and monetary donations. Donations can be made at csarmy.org or by calling (423) 756-1023.
