Mocs Earn No. 8 Seed in NCAA FCS Playoffs

Posted: Updated:
CHATTANOOGA, TN (GoMocs.com)--The consensus thought across the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision was if the No. 9 Chattanooga Mocs could take care of business in their regular season finale at Furman, they should be in line for a seed in the playoffs.  After a convincing 45-19 win over the Paladins, Chattanooga got the No. 8 seed and a coveted first-round bye.

The Mocs are now set to host the opening round winner of Eastern Kentucky (9-3) and Indiana State (7-4) at Finley Stadium on Dec. 6.  Game time is set for 1:00 p.m. (E.S.T.) on ESPN3.  This is the Mocs second appearance in the postseason and their first trip since 1984.

Chattanooga wrapped up its second-straight SoCon title over two weeks ago, and has been playing for playoff positioning in the last two games.  UTC tied a school record with nine wins and has seven SoCon wins for the first time.

The Eastern Kentucky-Indiana State game is Saturday, Nov. 29.  Fans can watch that contest on ESPN3 at 1:00 p.m. A full 24-team bracket is available at the top of the page.
