UPDATE: Former Calhoun mayor cleared of burglary charges

CALHOUN, TN (WRCB) -

UPDATE: McMinn County Circuit Court Clerk confirms former Calhoun Mayor John Walker was acquitted on charges of charges of aggravated burglary and theft over $1,000 Wednesday.

Walker, who is no longer the mayor, is now a city council member with the city of Calhoun.


UPDATE: The mayor of Calhoun, Tenn. is out of jail after being indicted last week on burglary charges.

Calhoun City Mayor John Walker turned himself into the McMinn Co. jail Friday after being indicted on charges of aggravated burglary and theft over $1,000.

According to a news release from McMinn Co Sheriff Joe Guy, the indictments relate to an alleged incident where Walker unlawfully entered one of his rental properties and took property belonging to a renter.

Walker will now have to appear before a judge in criminal court to answer to the allegations.

According to the McMinn County Sheriff's Office, Mayor John Walker was booked Saturday night on charges of aggravated burglary and theft of property over $1,000.
