Man plays video games for 24-hrs to raise money for local animal shelters

WALKER COUNTY, GA (WRCB) - It's not just fun and games, this gamer has a purpose.

"I can play video games for fun while making money for charity," said Lonnie Henderson, avid gamer.

With every mash of a button or toggle of the joy stick, Henderson is raising money to help feline friends at the Walker County Animal Shelter and the North Georgia Animal League.

"Just so the cats, while they're at the animal shelter can kind of have a better time of it," said Henderson.

Henderson isn't doing it half way either, he's taking it to the next level and is playing for 24-hours straight.

"I think I might be taking a break from video games after this," said Henderson.

But no matter how tired or how many games he loses, he says it will be worth it.

"The biggest thing is getting the word out there and letting people know the animal shelters need help," said Henderson. "If anybody is in the area and wants to help out, we'll be here for 24-hrs."

The event is set to end at 8 a.m. Sunday morning. They're hoping to raise several hundred dollars, but aside from monetary donations, they're asking for donations of cat food and bedding.
