NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Tennessee's School Boards Association has named the McMinn County Board of Education as its school board of the year.

The McMinn County school board was named the 2014 winner of the award at the association's annual convention Monday.

TSBA says McMinn County is an education leader in Tennessee and is often cited as a model for other districts.

According to the TSBA, McMinn County has a graduation rate of 92 percent and created instructional coaches in all schools to help improve teaching practices.

The county also developed and implemented a prospective principal academy and expanded dual credit options with two local community colleges.
