CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -
Plans are underway for “Chatt New Year 2015” with a classic Coca-Cola 1915-style bottle scheduled to drop at midnight from the Doubletree Hotel on Chestnut Street in downtown.
The soft drink giant says they want the design to stand 12-ft. tall with bright LED lights surrounding it. The final say on who will build the large replica of their popular contour bottle will be made at the Atlanta office this week.
A handful of Coca-Cola decision makers are meeting Friday afternoon to iron out those details.
Rick Hansard from Coca-Cola Chattanooga says “this event is special to us because it's the contour bottle design's 100th anniversary. We also have rich history here, our first bottling plant opened in 1899. We are very excited about celebrating in a big way.”
Peter Guarneiri with Doubletree says, “what makes this so unique is, the bottle doesn't exist anywhere. It will be a one of a kind. The hotel has been receiving a lot of calls, I'm sure this will give the city a nice economic boost.”
When they come up with the design, Double Tree is hoping to put it in place by mid December, so they can practice a few times making sure everything operates safely.
The New Year festivities at the Double Tree will include music, food and drinks.
The group “Deep Fried 5” will be serenading the crowd, Chattanooga Brewery will be providing the beer and Eleven Restaurant will be serving appetizers.
