CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) - A 25-year-old man sits behind bars after Chattanooga police say he beat a woman, leaving her with a swollen eye and bloody face.

Police responded to a residence on Snow Street Sunday morning. According to the affidavit, officers knocked on the door and spoke to a woman who said she was OK. When police insisted they needed to see her to make sure she was OK, she repeated she was OK.

Officers say it got quiet, and then they heard the woman yelling and a fight break out. Officers forced their way inside. The woman and suspect were in the bed. The woman had a bloody face and swollen eye. There was also blood on the wall.

The victim was taken to the hospital where she told police Jeremy Rashod Bailey had pulled her inside the apartment earlier and began beating and choking her until she passed out. She said Bailey was upset that she had gone to the hospital.

She said when police came to the house, Bailey was holding her around the neck and telling her to lie to police.

Bailey faces charges of aggravated assault and false imprisonment. His bond was set at $40,000. He is due in court November 17. He also has a pending assault charge from an august arrest.
