KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - An astronaut from Tennessee has assumed command at the International Space Station.

WBIR-TV (http://on.wbir.com/1xcu51E) reports Barry "Butch" Wilmore took control Sunday during a change of command ceremony after the previous commander returned to earth with two others. He will lead a crew of two until more members arrive later in the month.

Wilmore is a native of Middle Tennessee. He attended Tennessee Tech, where he played football, and he got his master's degree at the University of Tennessee.

Wilmore said he is humbled by the opportunity to lead and thanked everyone who helps keep things running at the station.
