JASPER, TN (WRCB) -

Marion County High School principal Larry Ziegler has resigned effective immediately, according to Schools Director Dr. Mark Griffith. Ziegler cited "personal reasons," according to Griffith.

The Director said Ziegler felt he needed to resign "in the best interest of the school and the students," Griffith said. "He did a great job, and I wish I could talk him out of it."  Ziegler was born and raised in Jasper, Tennessee, and a Marion County High School alumnus.

Upon graduation, he coached football at MCHS while attending the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga where he obtained his Bachelor's degree.

He began teaching at MCHS in 2000, and, in 2003, he received his Master's degree in instructional leadership from Trevecca University.
