KNOXVILLE, TN (WRCB) -- First year Tennessee Head Basketball Coach Donnie Tyndall's former program, Southern Miss, is reported to be under investigation by the NCAA.
Bleacher Report and CBS Sports report that the investigation centers on how tuition, housing and other expenses were paid for. Reports say the NCAA is focusing on "Prop-48" student athletes. Those are players who signed to play at the university but weren't academically eligible. So they remain at the school taking classes until they become eligible, at that point they can earn their scholarship.
Tyndall says he has not been contacted yet by the NCAA, "all I'm going to say and can say is that if I'm asked to cooperate 100 percent and that's all I will say or can say at this time."
