Catoosa County man charged with child molestation.

CATOOSA COUNTY, GA (WRCB) -  A Catoosa County man is being held without bound on charges of child molestation.  

Seventy-nine-year-old David Eubanks was arrested Halloween, after a young girl claimed he inappropriately touched her.

Police first made contact with the victim at Parkridge Hospital where the child was treated for injuries consistent with sexual assault.  

The victim claims Eubanks assaulted her over the course of a few days.

Police also add Eubanks is kin to the child.  

News of the assault has rattled residents in the area.  

We're taking a closer look at the most frequent perpetrators of child sex abuse.  

Child abusers can be neighbors, friends, and even family members.  

Studies show about 90-percent of children who are victims of sexual abuse know their abuser.  

Thirty-percent of the victims are sexually abused by a family member, 60-percent by people the family trusts.  

Child sex abuse can have lingering consequences for the victim.

It's important to talk openly with your children, and recognize the signs when it comes to preventing child sex abuse.
