PREVIOUS STORY: A Cleveland man is recovering in the hospital after being shot multiple times Sunday night and investigators are still looking for the shooter.

The man owns the Vest Grocery store on Gaut Street. Officers were called to the store just after 11 o'clock Sunday night.

Billy Vest says just as his brother was closing down the store for the night a man came bursting through the doors and pulled a gun and demanded money.

"I got a call last night that my brother got shot three times," says Billy Vest.

Vest works the days shift at Vest Grocery. His brother, Steven, works the second shift. He says the news is still sinking in a gunman could have taken his brother's life.

"They shot my brother three times. And there was blood on the floor."

Vest says his brother begged the shooter not to fire, to take money and leave. But the man shot him anyway.

"The abdomen, once on the chest and once in the leg. Three times by a .380. That's what the police are saying," says Billy.

The shooter, along with a getaway driver, escaped with cash. Billy says whatever the motive, it was not worth shooting his brother over.

"I have no idea. But if I was, the way this store is over here, I would probably say it's probably drug related."

The small store has been in his family for 85 years. He says it is located in a "rough part of town" but they have never had trouble like this before.

"Not like this. Not like this," says Billy.

He is just glad his brother is going to be okay.

"I was very very scared. I was scared going down to the hospital. I didn't know if he was going to make it or not."

He says he is not going to let the shooting scare him and his brother out of doing business.

"I'm strong. But my brother's even stronger. He's strong," says Billy.

Vest says in all the years his family has owned this store, they have never had security cameras. He says that is going to change now.

If you have any information that can help solve this case, call the Cleveland Police Department.
